[00:00:00] Everyone, it's Nathan here. It's with a heavy heart that I bring this announcement to you.
[00:00:08] We are going to be ending night's quest. This is not a joke or prank. This is real. We are going to be stopping the podcast. Now, I'm sure there are many questions that are running through your head, and so I want to try to answer as many as I can right now. The first one, what does that mean? What's next for the show?
[00:00:28] Well, we want to wrap up this story. All three of us agree that finishing the story we started in rage of the sea is important because we like to finish the things that we started. Now that we are going to have to finish it faster than we initially would have thought. Even a couple of months ago, I was thinking rage of steel will be a multi season thing. And so we were setting up a lot of stuff that we're going to have to wrap up a lot quicker than we thought, changing some plans.
[00:00:54] So I don't know how long that's going to take to wrap it up. I don't know how many episodes it's going to be because again, we haven't recorded them yet because we've been having trouble recording. So that could be a couple of months, that could be by the end of the year. My hope is to have it done this year in 2024, and I expect that to be the case. But I don't know when that's going to come out. I don't know when the next episode will come out. Likely we're going to try to record a bunch of them, if not the rest of it, and then release them like we normally would. So we'll keep you updated when that approaches. The next question you're probably asking yourself is why? Why are we ending the show?
[00:01:35] Truthfully, there's a lot of little reasons, but the big one is me, Jake, and Jamie. We're all still friends. We all still love telling stories. We're definitely not out of ideas.
[00:01:50] And we started this podcast five and a half years ago because it was fun. It was a fun thing to do as a group of friends. We had fun telling the stories. We had fun sharing that with people, and that was true for a long time. But as the show grew in scale and in the quality and in adding the Patreon, that meant more work. And that was something that initially I was very excited to do right, to see that show grow.
[00:02:18] But to be completely honest, it has added a level of stress and worry that none of us really wanted to have in our life. Worried about getting the next thing out, worried about making sure the patrons are taken care of, worried about what's going to happen to the shell.
[00:02:34] That, coupled with the fact that there's another project that's really been getting me excited. I want to write books. This probably isn't a surprise to anyone who's been listening to the show for a long time. I am the writer, after all, and that's always been something since I was a young kid that I wanted to do. And it wasn't until, I don't know, maybe the last month that I decided that's really something that I want to do for real. Not just say I'm going to do it, but actually do it. And that will take time. Writing books takes time, and I don't have infinite of that. And knights quest kind of fills that role. The editing and producing nightsquest kind of fills that role of creativity that the book will need to take that place of.
[00:03:23] In short, the podcast was adding some stress, and I need to be focusing on other projects. And this couples with a couple of other things.
[00:03:32] Like, it's been hard for us to find regular routine for recording. This has never been anything new for us. We've always had trouble with that because we're three adult men who have lives. But again, over the past five and a half years, that's gotten even more challenging. But that's not the main reason. The main reason is really that I'm wanting to move on to another project is to put it short now, because we are going to be ending the show.
[00:04:00] Something that I felt would be appropriate to do is also to end the Patreon. I just didn't feel right collecting money from you guys, knowing in mind that we're going to be ending the show and we're going to be cutting back some of the cost things anyway. Like, we're going to probably take back the website because we don't really need the website anymore. We're just going to keep the show going. So what we're going to do is January this month is going to be the last month where we collect funds from Patreon, and starting next month, we're going to try to close it down. So that means there's not going to be another sticker or a newsletter, and there won't be any bonus episode next month. The one that just came out yesterday on Patreon will be the last Patreon episode that we do, which unfortunately means there's not going to be another Quill request, and we're probably not going to wrap up the story of Netsquest Green, which we just started. And that's unfortunate because those are both great stories, too. But what I want to do afterwards is some of the things that were exclusive to Patreon, like our discord, like some bonus episodes. I think once Patreon is closed that we're going to open those up to anyone who wants them. So we'll make the discord something that we can keep forever. There's no reason that we need to stop that. We'll make that open to anyone who wants to join and just kind of be the place that people keep talking about Nightsquest, even when the show is done. And we're also going to upload all the Patreon episodes to our YouTube channel. So, like I said, I don't know when the podcast is going to end, but when it does, that will mean that the podcast stops existing as a podcast because that's something you have to pay for just to keep it up.
[00:05:40] And that's not something that I think makes sense to pay for. So we are uploading all the episodes to our YouTube channel. I'm. I'll put a link to the YouTube channel in description. I think it's just KQ podcast right now. It has all the rage of the sea episodes up there, and I'm going to work on uploading all of these song of the hero episodes up there just so that they can continue to exist and can be enjoyed even when we're done. Again, more details will come about dates and times of when the podcast will be done, when we know that, but just know that that's the direction that it's going in. Lastly, I want to give a thank you to a lot of people. So first, to all of our patrons, people who at any point have ever supported us. So, Reagan, Kat, Elijah, Jared, Xander, Lowell, Neil, Drew, Mike, Darian, Lauren. Thank you guys for supporting us, for saying, hey, we care about this show so much that we want to make sure it happens and put our money behind it. That was not taken lightly and we greatly appreciate that support. I also want to just thank all the people who have made memes and fan art and theories and discussions that genuinely was heart filling for us, that made us have joy seeing all that stuff and seeing people engaging with the show. So thank you.
[00:07:00] Thank you for that. Because I know that took time out of your day to say, I care about this story so much. I want to make a thing that goes along with it. Thank you to everyone who ever came to gorfball or whoever bought merch again. That was just also exciting to see people get excited about our show in real, tangible, physical ways. I also just want to thank Kelly for all of the incredible art that she made, whether it was the sponsored characters that we asked her to make or just stuff that she decided to make on her own. Thank you for all of that. It again was very encouraging to see these characters in our brains become reality.
[00:07:36] Lastly, I want to thank Jake and Jamie for just being good friends, for understanding that I need to transition into a new season of creativity. And I know this was a hard conversation to have, and I'm just grateful that I have friends like you guys who can listen and understand.

It could be a couple of months. I genuinely don't know. And we'll also let you know when the last episode is coming out when we have those answers. So again, thank you all so much.
