[00:00:00] Speaker A: Previously on Night's Quest Sersha and Zatar went into the de Pie manor looking for cylene's stolen goods, including her tanin supplies. This resulted in them having dinner with the family and lying up a storm. And that led to them creating a deal with Dito de Piede that they would get rid of the red cutlass. Along the way, they greatly upset Zampa de Pied, who has tracked them down and is ready with his goons to fight the truth out of them. So swash your buckles and rate your pies, because it's time for another adventure here on Night's Quest. [00:01:14] Speaker B: Are you ready? [00:01:17] Speaker C: And there's our cold open. Welcome back to Night's Quest. [00:01:22] Speaker B: Are you ready to rumble? Oh, there he goes. Oh, he's back. Okay, you did, like, a doppler thing for a second there. [00:01:32] Speaker A: I did. [00:01:33] Speaker C: Is it physically possible for us to get away from the WWF? [00:01:37] Speaker A: No. And it is called the WWE now, Jake. [00:01:41] Speaker C: Right. But when they did that, it was the WWF. [00:01:44] Speaker A: Well, we're the KQP KQ broadcast, so welcome back to Quest. [00:01:51] Speaker B: So the segues are just getting better. [00:01:54] Speaker A: And better every time. Folks, if that seemed like it was maybe one of our weaker cold opens, I want to pull back the curtain. We haven't recorded in over a month. [00:02:05] Speaker B: Why would you tell them this? We record every hour on the hour. Nathan's lying. Don't listen to him. We would never do such a thing. And this isn't a weak. This is a strong cold open. I don't know what you're talking about. Only the strongest. [00:02:21] Speaker C: This is a warm open. [00:02:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:25] Speaker A: I don't think that's a good thing. [00:02:26] Speaker B: For some reason, I genuinely thought you were going to say, if you think this is one of our weaker cold opens, we hate you, go away. [00:02:34] Speaker C: This next song is called we hate you, please die. [00:02:38] Speaker A: I think I've also learned the times we call attention to the cold open. [00:02:42] Speaker B: Is every time yes, I agree. [00:02:47] Speaker A: Are the ones that we think are the worst. And everyone's like, that's the best one. That's the best quality content. And I'm like, I don't think so. [00:02:55] Speaker C: Nathan, I appreciate you trying to manifest this. [00:02:59] Speaker B: That's what the secret was about. I'm pretty sure. [00:03:01] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:03:01] Speaker B: Is about podcast. [00:03:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:03:03] Speaker A: Yes. [00:03:04] Speaker C: It was love the whole time. [00:03:07] Speaker A: Yes. No, we're glad to be here with you recording again, jumping back into this story because there is going to be a rumble. There's going to be a little tussle going on, rustling a tussle in the alleyways of the heel. And I'm anxious to get back into it. [00:03:25] Speaker B: I'm anxious to let's get ready to it. The rumble, I mean, yeah. [00:03:30] Speaker A: Yes. Okay, we're going to get started. All right. We've calculated the order. It is going to go zatar, zampa, Sirsha. And then the goons, the boys, four of them. And of course, we got Alfonso, Rodrigo, Chuck, and Richard. So in case you forgot, the four goons, they're all here. [00:03:48] Speaker B: Were they all also in the Flynn fight. [00:03:50] Speaker A: They were all in the Flynn fight. [00:03:52] Speaker B: So they've had a busy day. [00:03:53] Speaker A: Yeah, they've had a busy day. We've all had a busy day. Let's get to it. Zatar, take it away. Yeah. [00:03:58] Speaker C: Zatar is going to use his move what's that behind? [00:04:02] Speaker A: Yep. [00:04:02] Speaker C: Which he did use one time before. [00:04:05] Speaker A: Yes, he did. [00:04:06] Speaker C: He is going to try and pull a fast one on them. [00:04:10] Speaker A: So I believe for that one, you roll it used a yep. Which I know you still have at least one I've left. And you rolled persuasion against them. [00:04:18] Speaker C: Yes. Which I have a green and two yellows. [00:04:23] Speaker A: That's right. Because we have to roll for you tonight. Yes. [00:04:26] Speaker C: Unless I can find, like, a Star Wars dice thing online. [00:04:30] Speaker A: I'm going to roll for you on this one while you look that up. Well, you're going to probably want to eventually roll for yourself because I oh, no, I didn't do good for you, my man. So it's technically a failure because I rolled no successes, only advantages. Okay. Which totaled out to two advantages overall. So you're not going to be able to pull a fast one on them to see what you're doing, but you do get two other advantages. So what would you like to get from the situation? I'll say the original goal of what you were doing was to get an advantage on your next attack against them, right? Yes. Can't do that one. But maybe I can give you some info about them. Maybe they weren't distracted, but in that brief moment, how they reacted, you learned something about them. [00:05:17] Speaker C: I like the idea that I gleaned some information about them. Oh, hey, I can roll online. [00:05:25] Speaker B: No way. [00:05:26] Speaker A: Yeah, let's do that. Forward. [00:05:28] Speaker C: All right. [00:05:28] Speaker A: Do you want to get two bits of info then, for each advantage? Yes. Okay. I'm going to say info bit number. [00:05:34] Speaker C: Do you want me to say what he says? [00:05:35] Speaker A: Sure. Yes. [00:05:36] Speaker C: Right away, his hand goes to where his hit be at, and then he kind of straightens up and takes his hand off of his sword, and he looks past the group of ruffians and says, fabrizio, what are you doing here? [00:05:53] Speaker B: Yes. [00:05:55] Speaker A: It doesn't work. Right. I think maybe one of the goons kind of does, like, a quick look back, and I'm going to say this is where one of your bits of info comes in. The goon who looks behind him is Alfonso, and you can see claw streaks across his face. So you learn a Alfonso has been wounded already, and you know those claws. You know who wounded him. I'm going to say that by looking at Zampa as well, who is not phased at all by this guy shakes his head in disappointment. You can also see that he looks a little bit worse for wear, as well as if he had been Zapped. You can see his hair kind of still, like, stands up a little bit on end. He wasn't able to clean it as well. So that two bits of info is you learned that both Alfonso and Zampa have taken one harm and you now remembering a little bit of the story. You eavesdropped, they have fought your crew, but they don't know it was your crew. [00:06:50] Speaker C: Our crew. Right. [00:06:51] Speaker A: But you do. So you have that upper hand in this situation. Now it's Zampa's turn, and he's going to fight way different than he did last time. Okay. He's going to take his club that he's got or not his club. He's like his walking stick, and he's just going to walk up and just swing to attack Zatar. He's not playing around. He's cutting right to it this time. He has had a day and he just wants to end it. Okay. So he is going to succeed with a disadvantage. Okay. So he is going to deal one harm to you. I think he just hits your left arm. So he swings and ends up hitting your left arm. So you're going to take one harm there. And this advantage is going to be the can I say? [00:07:34] Speaker C: Zatar grabs his cane. I like the idea that he kind of like, locks him in to, like, a grapple. [00:07:39] Speaker A: Okay. So then he swings, he hits your arm, but then you kind of grab him. Since you weren't holding your sword yet, you grab his cane and now you've got him in that position. Cool. Okay. Seriously. [00:07:51] Speaker B: Now that Zampa has made it clear his primary attack is going to be that cane, she's going to take out the bowie knife that she picked up at the oh, my. Yeah, yeah. I was trying to think of the name of the place at the callus. Callus. Thank you. She's going to unsheath that, I guess, and she's going to go for his hand. [00:08:11] Speaker A: Oh. [00:08:12] Speaker B: If she can get him to drop or be unable to use the cane, then that's going to be a big asset. [00:08:17] Speaker A: Yeah. Make a weapon handling attack because you're going for a very specific part of his body, I would say at a setback. Sure. [00:08:25] Speaker B: Give me a difficulty. [00:08:27] Speaker A: Difficulty is two. Okay. [00:08:29] Speaker B: We're looking at one advantage, but that is a failure. Yeah, failure with one advantage. [00:08:37] Speaker A: So you're not able to stab his hand, which would have dealt harm and likely caused him to let go. The advantage could be and this might be just what you want anyway. My brain says that in order to avoid being attacked, he just lets go. [00:08:50] Speaker B: Okay. [00:08:50] Speaker A: He lets go. He doesn't get hurt, but he does drop the cane, which is kind of what you're going for. [00:08:55] Speaker B: Right, right. I like him letting go of the cane. [00:08:57] Speaker A: He missed the hand. He lets go. Now as a tire, you are holding the cane and he is rendered without a weapon. It is now time for the four goons turn. Who are they? Were hanging back. I think what they're going to do, they all have clubs. [00:09:14] Speaker C: Real quick situation, the cane, are we talking just like a gentleman's walking stick, like a straight stick, or does it have the hook at the top? Because that's important. [00:09:23] Speaker A: Yes, it is a straight stick with metal on the end, like metal caps. Okay, but there's no hook. [00:09:30] Speaker C: So the Du Bois must have reacquired their bludgeoning items then. [00:09:35] Speaker A: They just picked up some new ones. They picked up some proper bludgeoning items. [00:09:39] Speaker B: There's a room at the estate that just has, like, an infinite supply of backup clubs. [00:09:46] Speaker A: That was a reference to one of our patreon episodes. So if you didn't quite get what we meant by that, go check out the patreon episode and you'll learn more about Du Bois and their bludgeoning items. Anyway, they've got them, they got them back. And I think they're just going to surround the two of you. So you're now kind of in the middle of this situation. [00:10:07] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:10:08] Speaker A: And I think it's got to be two of them attack Sirsha. Two of them attacks Zatar. [00:10:13] Speaker C: Oh, boy. [00:10:14] Speaker A: Which is not good, because both of you have already taken at least one harm, if I remember correctly. Right? I'll say, all right, so both of you at least taken one harm. Seriously, you've taken two. That is correct. So here's what we're going to do. Let's make two attacks on each of them. So let's divide it up. I'll roll against Zatar along with Jamie. So we'll both roll against Zatar. And then, Jake, can you make two rolls against Sirsha again, Zatar has a one difficulty and Daboy's goons have two for their role. [00:10:51] Speaker B: So it's just two greens and one purple. [00:10:53] Speaker A: Two greens, one purple. And then Sirsha has a one as well, right? [00:10:56] Speaker B: Yeah, that's correct. [00:10:57] Speaker A: So Jake, just make two of those. [00:10:58] Speaker B: Well, it depends on where they're trying to hit her, because I do have a helmet. [00:11:04] Speaker C: That's true. [00:11:05] Speaker A: To go for her head. Okay, I got good news. I failed. [00:11:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:11] Speaker A: One miss on Zatar. [00:11:13] Speaker B: The other attack on Zatar is also a failure, but with two advantages. [00:11:18] Speaker A: Okay, so Zatar makes it out of that one. [00:11:21] Speaker C: One of the hits was a success with an advantage, and the other one was a failure with advantage. [00:11:27] Speaker A: Okay, so two advantages as well in that situation. [00:11:31] Speaker B: So, okay, so the hits on Zatar were all failures, but two advantages total. The hits on Sirsha were one success, two advantages total. [00:11:38] Speaker A: Two advantages total. Okay, so here's how I'll clean it out. Got the four boys, and we're going to say this time it was Rodrigo. Rodrigo hits Sirsha with a bludgeon. Ah. I'm going to say hits your arm. You instinctively went to block it, but it hits your arm and it hurts. [00:11:54] Speaker B: I'm writing down arm bludgeon. [00:11:56] Speaker A: Good. I'm going to say these advantages that all of the goons get are just going to be spread amongst them evenly. Now each of them will get a boost on their next attack. I hate that because now that they've surrounded you, they've kind of cornered you in, so that's where they're at. Things are not looking good for the squad. So Zatar, not great. Your turn. [00:12:17] Speaker C: Zatar is going to he's got to get some distance between these goons and him and Sirsha, he is going to do Usrin sword fighting stuff. [00:12:33] Speaker B: Oh, love that. Okay. [00:12:35] Speaker C: He's going to do some Usrin sword form. So since he now has the cane also oh, yes. He is going to draw his sword, and he's going to do, like, a circular swipe at ankle level. [00:12:51] Speaker B: Cool. [00:12:52] Speaker C: With the intention being to either harm or at least push people back a little bit, and then regardless of the success of the swipe, because, again, it's not intent, the point is not to harm. The point is to make space. But he's going to position himself with the sword kind of like, above his head, like a scorpion stinger. [00:13:13] Speaker B: Oh, I love that. [00:13:14] Speaker C: And the cane out in front of him, so he's striking a pose after that. [00:13:19] Speaker A: So is the goal of the whole shebang to make room and get rid of their buffs? Is it to deal harm or is it to intimidate? [00:13:29] Speaker C: The point is to make room and. [00:13:32] Speaker A: Intimidate, then do a I think this is you've kind of made a move here inadvertently. [00:13:38] Speaker B: I like it. [00:13:38] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:13:39] Speaker A: You're going to roll weapon handling with the effect of other stuff. [00:13:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:13:43] Speaker A: Here's your move. Here's the move you've created roll weapon handling. And if you succeed, you remove the boost that your opponents have, whatever that may be, because you've intimidated them or because you've dissuaded them, but that's what it's going to do. [00:14:01] Speaker C: What's the difficulty? [00:14:02] Speaker A: I'm going to say for this one, it's going to be there's a lot of them, so I'm going to say three. Okay. [00:14:07] Speaker C: It's a success with, like, three disadvantages. [00:14:11] Speaker B: Okay. Interesting. [00:14:14] Speaker C: I don't know how that factors in. [00:14:16] Speaker A: In this instance, but yeah, it's important. I know how that works. So you're going to be successful. You do this little swing, you knock off all of their boosts, kind of like, disrupting their nice type form that they had. Does he say anything when he does this move? Does he make, like, a noise? Like a shout? No. Chant or is it silent? [00:14:38] Speaker C: He is silent. He does make a noise. He kind of, like, drags the blade along the cobblestone. [00:14:45] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:14:46] Speaker C: But he doesn't do anything yet. [00:14:51] Speaker A: You succeed at what you're wanting to do. You've removed all their boosts, but I think in the process, you did get hurt, I think. [00:14:56] Speaker B: Oh, God. [00:14:57] Speaker A: Alfonso. He's just able to get an opportunity attack as you're spinning around, and so you're going to take one hit to the back, but they are all pushed back from this. So that is two of the disadvantages. We've established that two disadvantages can equal harm. And then I think the third one is that and maybe this is what you wanted. You've drawn their attention. You are now going to be their primary target, okay? And again, maybe that's something that ends up being what you want. But that's the result, right? This muaks it Zampa's turn, and I think it's at this point that he kind of starts to laugh. [00:15:35] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:15:36] Speaker A: Seeing this big show. And so I think Zampa's, like, look at this guy. He struts into town. He does a little bit of showboat, and he thinks he thinks he's the king of the roast, thinks he's the top of the castle. Let me remind you, bro dring, all right? Your wave scum. I'm a descendant of the de Pierre de family, and you made a mockery of me. You have sullied my vibes, sir. And I think I've had enough of bro drinks today. I've had enough of your nonsense. So how about this? You tell me the truth, and we'll be gracious enough to leave one ears alive. He's going to use an intimidation move. So what is both of your charisma stats? [00:16:26] Speaker B: Three, four? [00:16:28] Speaker A: That's what I thought. Jake, can you just roll one purple and let me know the results of it? [00:16:35] Speaker C: The purple is two failures. [00:16:38] Speaker A: Okay? So he is going to fail on both of you, okay? He does not succeed on his threat, and there's going to be a disadvantage in that as well. Actually, two disadvantages. His voice cracks. I know what the I'm leaving Woody's life. I think maybe the two disadvantages are going to be as he's doing this, he's being pretty loud, right? He's not being discreet as he's shouting threats at you. And this is going to get the attention of, I think, the nearby people walking around. And so you see some people kind of walk by the alley, and they kind of scurry away, but we'll have the rest of that. Come back to play later. Sirsha, it's your turn. [00:17:25] Speaker B: Sirsha, if I'm not mistaken, has not physically struck anybody yet. Like, she took a swing at Zomba. Okay, that's good, actually, because she I'd like to turn this back around on him. And even though she's coughing and she's having a hard time keeping her balance and her fighting stance up because she's been hurt, she's going to say, gentlemen, is this how the associates of the de Pierre family act, attacking those who were just seated at the family dinner table? This is speaking of dishonor upon the family name, I believe I would think twice before I engaged in such activities. And this is directed at the goons. This is not directed at Zampa. [00:18:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay, so you're clearly making some kind of a fear role. [00:18:10] Speaker B: I really was hoping I was really hoping I could do camaraderie, because that's what I'm good at. That's why I wanted to play camaraderie, because we were sitting at the table. [00:18:19] Speaker A: You know what you did say, gentlemen, you did reference the family respect. Okay. I'll give you camaraderie. Yes. Difficulty two for the goons. [00:18:27] Speaker B: It's what I wanted. Finally, a good odds roll. Once again, two advantages but a failure. Yeah. [00:18:37] Speaker A: Okay, so what was it specifically you were trying to do in that situation? I should have asked sooner. [00:18:42] Speaker B: Get them to stop fighting or get them to hesitate. Get them to think this is a bad idea. Change hearts and minds. Yeah. So if that failed yeah, that failed. [00:18:52] Speaker A: I think they see what you're doing. Right. They are loyal to Zampa, I think maybe you don't know they're unconscious. Maybe in their heart of hearts, they believe you, but they got to follow what their boss says. But I think the two advantages I'm going to lump that with the two advantages that I had two disadvantages from earlier. Okay. As you're shouting and making some noise. Yeah. [00:19:16] Speaker B: It's a bit of a let me. [00:19:18] Speaker A: Let me hold on to that. The goons are going to go next as it is their turn, right. So let's just make two more attacks, shall we? [00:19:27] Speaker B: Oh, Lordy. [00:19:30] Speaker A: All right, so, Zatar, you're going to hit one from me, but I have a disadvantage. [00:19:34] Speaker B: This one is a success, nothing else. [00:19:38] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:19:39] Speaker C: All right. The goons for Sirsha, one is a success with a disadvantage and the other is a failure with an advantage. [00:19:47] Speaker B: Oh, there you go. [00:19:47] Speaker A: So Zatari get hit twice. Yep. I think two of the goons just come in. Just whack, whack. Just two more bludgeoning hits. Hate that, Sirsha, you get one more bludgeoning hit from the know. Alfonso, Rodrigo, and Chuck. Just wail it, Chuck. I think the disadvantages and the advantages all cancel out overall. Right? Because I had a disadvantage. [00:20:11] Speaker B: Yeah. I didn't have any on mine. [00:20:13] Speaker A: And then you had one advantage, or there's one more disadvantage left overall, right? Yeah, we'll say that. That's the math. And so I'm going to say that Sirius is hurting the one goon who didn't land a hit. He is going to be I think maybe he did find what you said low perspective, and so he kind of held back. So I'm just going to say this little dissension, but what happens next after these goons? Well, before I say that so, Zatar, you've been hit three times today. That's not much left, I think, if I tell you it was six, if I remember. [00:20:48] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. [00:20:49] Speaker A: Sirsha's was Sirsha, how much do you have left? [00:20:51] Speaker B: I have two. [00:20:52] Speaker A: So you're both looking very bad. Like, this is very bad shape. [00:20:56] Speaker B: Oh, I am fully aware. Thank you, my friend. [00:21:00] Speaker A: Beaten, bruised, cut, tired. [00:21:03] Speaker B: This is what's known as the DM brag. [00:21:07] Speaker A: It is. I'm just trying to heighten up the situation. Zampa sees it, and he's still kind of chuckling a little bit, but jamie? [00:21:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:15] Speaker A: Can I have you make an extra. [00:21:18] Speaker B: I would love to make this next role. [00:21:21] Speaker A: Nathan, difficulty two with a boost. That's right. An extra role. [00:21:27] Speaker B: Why would it be weapon handling? [00:21:28] Speaker A: I think it's technically spell casting. [00:21:30] Speaker B: Spell casting? [00:21:31] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah. Jake. Yeah. We got some spicy. [00:21:36] Speaker B: So that's another failure with an advantage. [00:21:41] Speaker A: There's an advantage. [00:21:42] Speaker B: There's one advantage, but it is a failure. [00:21:44] Speaker A: I'll take it. I'll take it. That's all I need. [00:21:47] Speaker B: Oh, goodness. [00:21:48] Speaker A: All I need is something. [00:21:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:50] Speaker A: Okay. So I'm paint the scene. [00:21:53] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:53] Speaker A: Satar Sirsha in the middle of these four goons, having just gotten literally beaten quite heavily. Zampa, he stepped back to the know, standing further off in the alley. Chuckling. Then from behind Zampa, a wall of flames erupts around him. Erupts around him, this blue space, now illuminated with orange. And you see Zampa. His laughter drops as now panic covers his face. That is going to be the advantage. You didn't hurt anyone with this move. But in this moment, Zampa is scared, and the goons stop what they're doing. [00:22:35] Speaker B: The second time today that he's been attacked by a giant fire thing. Yeah. [00:22:41] Speaker A: And it's at this moment that Zatar and Sirsha see Kor and Ticket show up. At the other end of the alleyway. Ticket is wielding her gauntlet angled at Zampa. [00:22:59] Speaker C: So did she go back to the ship? [00:23:02] Speaker A: You'll have to ask them. You have to ask them. Okay. You have to ask them the entire time. Sorry that we're late to the second brawl of the day. [00:23:12] Speaker B: And Ticket says, yeah, that's what you get. You don't mess with oh, I think I missed. Okay, I'll dial it back. Okay, I'll try again. [00:23:22] Speaker A: And so then Core, he gets to go too. He's going to rush in, and he takes out his bludgeoning weapon. He's got we said like a gaffey stick. Yeah. Cool. I think I learned the real name for it is Totokia. Gaffey stick is the Star Wars name, but the real name is Totokia. [00:23:39] Speaker B: Super quick, remind me of what it looks like. I don't remember. [00:23:41] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just a long staff with kind of like a bulbous end for Whacking. [00:23:48] Speaker B: For whacking? [00:23:48] Speaker A: Yep, for whacking. So he's gonna rush in and he's gonna attack with a boost for the element of suprise. That's just a plain success. [00:23:59] Speaker C: All right. [00:24:00] Speaker A: Plain success. So he runs in, and he's just going to whack Zampa from behind, bludgeoning him from his back as well. And they've now entered the fight. Zatar, it's your turn. [00:24:11] Speaker C: Zatar is conflicted because he still wants to maintain this ruse. He still wants to maintain being on the good side of the to. He doesn't want to too badly harm any of them. He just wants to end this as quickly as possible. So he's going to try and intimidate the goons by kind of like in a hushed, like, obviously not directed at Zampa, but directed at them. And he's going to say, whether you win or lose. How do you think Dito is going to feel when you get back to the manor tonight. How do you think Dito is going to feel when he hears that his honored guests who are doing a job for him were viciously attacked and ganged up on in an alleyway by Wild U Five? How do you think he's going to feel about that? [00:25:08] Speaker A: That's very good. Please make a fear roll. [00:25:10] Speaker B: Dishonor. Dishonor on difficulty. Dishonor on your cow. [00:25:15] Speaker A: And I'm going to give you a boost because that was, I think, genuinely scary. I think that would be very effective. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Is that a bad role? [00:25:23] Speaker A: It's a failure with two advantages. [00:25:28] Speaker C: You can't cut a break, cannot catch a break. Today. [00:25:31] Speaker A: I think Alfonso, who's clearly the toughest of them all, he sees because you're trying to roll to make him stop. Right. That's plain, simple, right? Yeah. I think he says, how you think Dito's gonna feel when he finds out you've been lying to him? [00:25:48] Speaker B: He doesn't know that, though. He just really strongly and then when. [00:25:52] Speaker A: He says and when we find out what that lie is, we're going to run right up there and we're going to bozampa is going to ratch you out like the sea rats you are. [00:26:07] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:26:08] Speaker C: Really getting lost in the weeds with these metaphors. [00:26:11] Speaker A: Yeah, they are getting a little lost. So the two advantages I'll give you, I think maybe on their next turn, they're not going to attack you, though, because I think they realize, yeah, they're here to get info out of you, not kill you. Because if they do kill you, then you're right, they'll be in trouble. So they need to get the lie out of you. And so the goons are not going to attack next turn unless Zampa is able to get the info from you. Okay. So speaking of which, Zampa, he's a little more preoccupied, though, by the two newcomers, and he's still spooked. He turns and he sees Ticket and Kor, who he's not met before. The last two members of the crew he has not yet met, but he sees him, he sees the gauntlet and he goes, hey, you two are from that Dragon Goddess crew. And you can say, like, he's trying to be tough, but he's like, what brings you here? Why, though? What's the stop it. I'm doing a thing. Get out of here. This is our business. We're preoccupied. I got it. No, here's what I'm going to say. What business do you have with these two schmucks? [00:27:21] Speaker B: He hasn't put it together yet. [00:27:26] Speaker A: I'm giving you that for now because I don't want to blow your cover yet. It's been a couple of seconds. [00:27:34] Speaker C: Can we talk just, like, out of turn? Like, if we're not fighting, can we just talk? [00:27:39] Speaker A: Sure. [00:27:40] Speaker C: Satar Chicor says, ah, our good friends from the Kaiserion. The Kaiserion and the Genie's Revenge have been close friends for some time now, haven't we? And coming to the aid of our captain, Sirsha, definitely strengthening our bond. ACOR. [00:28:04] Speaker A: Okay, I'm going to have you roll camaraderie for that. Okay. I love that. I'm going to give you a boost because you guys are on the same crew. The goal is for you for Core to pick up what you're putting down. I'm going to make the difficulty be two. Yeah. [00:28:20] Speaker C: Better hope it's a success with two disadvantages. [00:28:25] Speaker A: So the success is Core picks up what you're putting down. Can the two disadvantages be Ticket doesn't. [00:28:31] Speaker B: You know why that's so funny to me is because I just realized for this entire story, since she set foot on the Kaiserion, she's been desperately trying to figure out when it's a good thing to lie and when it isn't. [00:28:45] Speaker C: That's very good. [00:28:46] Speaker B: Never been more important than right now. There's math equations floating around her head as she tries to figure out do we tell the truth or lie? [00:28:58] Speaker A: That's it. That's exactly it. Okay. So Core gets it. His facial expressions. He's on he's on board. He's not giving you yeah, yeah. I'll even say that he is going to be aware that Ticket may not get this because he's worked with Zatar. He knows Zatar's Tone. Right. He gets it. But for sure, though, Ticket doesn't know what she's supposed to do, and that could give it away, but we'll see. So actually, here's what we're going to do right now, because when there was a lie earlier, we had a contested roll from Zampa. Jamie, I'm going to let you decide in this moment, do you want Zampa to roll as part of his turn against a stat of Tickets to see whether she can bluff, or do you want Ticket to roll maybe some kind of intelligence or charisma to see if she can intuit keep a poker face. Yeah. Intuit or poker face in this moment. [00:29:57] Speaker B: I love what I did last time. [00:29:58] Speaker A: Was I had seriously roll strength is what I did for her poker face. But I think I'll let you I could be argued by intelligence for intuiting rashiacination. So here are options. Either Ticket rolls rashy assassination okay. Or Sampa is going to roll against Ticket's strength or charisma. [00:30:20] Speaker B: If I can have Ticket roll charisma, that probably gives me the best odds because I have a three. [00:30:24] Speaker A: I would roll against your charisma. [00:30:27] Speaker B: Oh, okay. I think that's still the best bet. [00:30:31] Speaker A: That might be your best one. [00:30:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:33] Speaker A: Okay. Zampa's rolling two green against her three purple. [00:30:36] Speaker B: All right. [00:30:37] Speaker A: If he succeeds, he catches the lie. The final result is Zampa fails with one advantage. [00:30:48] Speaker B: Okay. [00:30:50] Speaker A: So he does not catch the lie. He believes that you are a separate crew. Whatever Ticket does, she holds her poker face well enough. I think his one advantage is going to be, though, that he does detect that Ticket is a different person who had attacked him earlier with the gauntlet, and maybe she might not be as good at it as the previous person was. So he's able to intuit that info. [00:31:18] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:31:19] Speaker A: So that's Zampa's turn. Sirsha, it's your turn. [00:31:21] Speaker B: Cirsha says Zampa. I'd like to issue a formal declaration. As a broadering captain myself, I'm willing to. I think she, like, coughs out, very Rasping like, still clearly hurting a lot. Overlook a certain few choice actions, and all parties might walk away from this particular altercation with dito none the wiser. Or if ye would choose to reject this particular offer, well, things are going to get ugly very quickly. [00:32:04] Speaker A: Okay, that's a fear. Roll my guy. [00:32:06] Speaker B: I love it. Let's do it. [00:32:08] Speaker A: Difficulty is two. I will give you a boost because you have these new combatants which have now changed the weight of the fighting from clearly being outnumbered to only slightly being outnumbered. [00:32:22] Speaker B: Sure. You have to be kidding me. I had four good dice and only two bad ones, and I still have a perfectly blank zero. Everything canceled out. [00:32:34] Speaker A: It just doesn't persuade you're. Not the talker. [00:32:37] Speaker B: This episode sucks. This has been going so badly. [00:32:43] Speaker A: You're just not persuading them. It doesn't work. Doesn't happen. Zampa is here on a mission. Now, the goons who go up next are not going to attack, but I do think they are going to try to maybe now detain you, like, hold you. Okay. And so I think we're just going to make two rolls for that. I'm going to roll to detain Zatar, and you roll to detain, Sirsha. Okay. Difficulty is whatever their strength is. So, Sirsha, what's your strength? [00:33:09] Speaker B: Still a one. [00:33:09] Speaker A: And zatar yours. Still a one. Okay, so roll on the one difficulty. [00:33:17] Speaker B: We haven't had chances to beef them up yet. [00:33:19] Speaker A: Yeah, they have a strength of two. So two green, one purple, and one boost, because two dudes on each one is where that boost comes in. Okay. [00:33:30] Speaker B: What's happening? [00:33:31] Speaker A: I failed clean failure. Same. [00:33:35] Speaker B: Incredible. [00:33:36] Speaker A: So it totally, totally washed out on mine. Like, the boost was blank and everything just clean wash. Wow. [00:33:41] Speaker B: What? [00:33:42] Speaker A: Incredible. So they go in to grab you guys, but I think you're just able to step out of the way because they're not, like, dog piling you. They're not trying to because then the fight would continue, but they're more, like, trying to just grab you, but you're able to grab it. [00:33:57] Speaker C: We just kind of step back like, no, thanks. [00:34:00] Speaker A: And maybe you just break out from their grasp. Like, they grab your arms, and you just break out of it because it was a strength roll. [00:34:05] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:34:05] Speaker A: So that does lead us to Core and Ticket's turn. I don't want to speak for Ticket, but I think Core tells her ticket, blast them. [00:34:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:34:17] Speaker A: She was step out of the way. [00:34:20] Speaker B: That's good because she was hesitant whether to do it again or not, and I think her justification is Sirsha just, like, laid down an ultimatum, and they're clearly choosing the negative option. So I think she's a little bit the meter is just barely leaning towards blastom in her mind, and she's like, okay, here we go. Okay, boy, I got to train this kid in magic to get better stats at some point, right? She hefts up the gauntlet again, and she says, we are more than fear. We are more than fear. We are more than fear. And then she launches the spell. That is a success. Finally. Oh, Lord. [00:34:59] Speaker A: Okay. [00:35:00] Speaker C: Is she attacking Zampa or the goons? [00:35:04] Speaker A: I think Zampa is closer. I would say Zampa. Yeah. So I think here's what happens. Core, he was right in front of Zampa, had just bonked him. He says, blast him, steps out of the way, ticket levels the gauntlet. I don't think she's learned to support it with her other right, right. So I think that's part of her shakiness. She slams the rune on the top with her right hand. The fire column ejects outward and hits Zampa square in the face, who had been burned previously from behind. So his suit had been damaged oh, man. Last time. But this is the first time he's gotten hurt by the flame, and so he's not liking that. And I think he's now taken quite a few wounds today, not as many as you guys, but he wasn't looking for this kind of escape. And so Core, I think he's just going to make an attack as well to kind of seal this deal. And I think he says, well, I'll make the attack, and we'll see what he says afterwards, see if he's cool or not. That is one advantage. That is just one advantage so he doesn't hurt him. But I think what happens is Zampa gets hit by the fire. He kind of stumbles back, and Core is able to knock him onto his back so he doesn't take a harm, but he's just kind of standing over him, and he says, listen, Erica, you've just messed with not one, but two brodring crews. Where I come from, we value life. I only live once, so do you. I recommend you try to get out of here still alive. Otherwise you're going to have the wrath of two captains, two tyings, and a whole lot of fists up in your face. And I think while Zampa is not afraid, I think this is enough persuasion. [00:36:57] Speaker B: I like that. [00:36:57] Speaker A: As he's been hurt enough. So Zatar, though, you go next. Before Zampa can make that call, he's. [00:37:03] Speaker C: Going to sheath his sword. He's going to walk over to Zampa and hold his cane out towards him. [00:37:11] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:37:12] Speaker C: And he's going to say, for the first time today and maybe the first time in your life, pick the smart choice. [00:37:23] Speaker A: Zadar, please make one final charisma roll. I think this is a persuasion, probably persuasion. I will give you a boost that is coming from Core, from Core statement, difficulty will be two at this point, the dice are in your favor. [00:37:42] Speaker B: I'm seeing a lot of faces, but I don't know what they mean, I'm. [00:37:45] Speaker A: Seeing a dance move. [00:37:46] Speaker B: Hallelujah. [00:37:47] Speaker A: Hands in the air. [00:37:48] Speaker C: It's a success with two advantages. [00:37:50] Speaker A: Okay. [00:37:51] Speaker B: All right, great. [00:37:54] Speaker A: Okay, the role we were looking for, zampa, whose turn is next, looks up at you and you can see his face is not good. I mean, he's not going to take permanent scarring from this because it was a one point harm, but he's not looking good. Ash and scorches definitely his eyebrows are gone for sure, which is not a. [00:38:15] Speaker C: Good look for anybody. [00:38:16] Speaker A: No, it's not. And he grabs the cane, kind of hoists himself upward, yanks it out of your hand. [00:38:22] Speaker C: Satar holds onto the cane for just, like, a little bit too long. Like, Sampa tries to pull it, but he's still holding onto it. [00:38:30] Speaker A: Eventually he lets go and he says, listen, you got lucky, okay? By the skinnier, little teeth. All right? I want you to know this. Sampa De Pied, he never runs from a fight. He just chooses to fight at a different time. So come on, boys, let's head back. I think there's some dessert waiting for us that we didn't finish. [00:39:00] Speaker C: So sprigatolis out on the table. [00:39:04] Speaker A: There's some sprigatoles that my mama made. [00:39:08] Speaker C: You need to shut the hell your mouth. [00:39:12] Speaker A: Listen here, you. She needs revenge. I'm going to get my revenge on you and on you. And then he points to and I think he even walks up to Ticket and he's like and of course he's like, can you tell your captain? Remind him what we did to him. We'll do again. And at this point, I think the two advantages are he's trying to be intimidating, and that's why he just keeps rambling like he did last time. He just keeps doing something. He's like and my father and when Dito finds out, and he's like and when Louis Drench finds mean, he's just name dropping. He has lost. He's lost all credibility. [00:39:55] Speaker B: Ticket blurts out, why would you tell him that you lost, though? [00:40:03] Speaker A: I think the goons are even like so that's the two advantages? The two advantages is that he leaves. [00:40:10] Speaker B: Here's the thing. She didn't mean that as, like, a mic drop. She was genuinely confused. He's like, I'll tell the boss about this. And she's just like, wait, why? [00:40:20] Speaker C: Well, why, though? [00:40:21] Speaker A: The two advantages is that they leave with their tails tucked between their legs, and they will not be pursuing you for the rest of today because they're too embarrassed. [00:40:30] Speaker C: Thank yolo. [00:40:32] Speaker B: Oh, goodness. [00:40:33] Speaker A: Thank yolo. So the Goons and Zampa leave, which leaves a very battered and bruised Zatar and Sirsha, along with a doing pretty dang well ticket and Core. And Core says, wow, that guy's got a prick. [00:40:53] Speaker C: Yeah, tell me about it. [00:40:54] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't super know what's going on, but that was like he seems pretty awful. I was going to ask if you guys are okay, but that seems like kind of a silly question. [00:41:05] Speaker C: Yeah, not great. [00:41:07] Speaker B: Many thanks for your timely arrival. Did you happen to gain or glean any, let's say, medicine or medical supplies? Because spirits above and below, they would not be more appreciated than this very moment, for we are nearing death. [00:41:28] Speaker A: Yeah, great question. [00:41:30] Speaker B: Okay, that's a little dramatic, but no, you know, I'm sorry. That was mean. [00:41:34] Speaker A: I mean, I was going to tell the whole story later, but I guess now is the time it's appropriate. Yeah, I know. We talked with the doc. We had some more wangs. They were good. I liked them a lot. Turns out there's a lot of medical info to learn, and you can't just sit down at a table and just talk about it. Did you know there's more than one type of sickness? I learned that today. Yeah, it's more than one. [00:42:03] Speaker B: Yeah. I thought it was because I wasn't paying attention for all of it, that I didn't get everything. But then it turns out, even if I was paying attention, there's too much stuff. There's too much medical stuff, so I got some of it. [00:42:13] Speaker A: The doc just took us to his place, and we bought some books from him. So it should have done that from the beginning. Not sure why we stayed there. So, yeah, we got a couple books now. [00:42:25] Speaker B: It wasn't super interesting if anyone was hoping that they could hear about it or listen to mean nothing really particularly exciting happened worth skipping, honestly. [00:42:35] Speaker A: Anyway, we went back to the ship. Kareem fixed up tickets, old Gauntlet here, and the captain was pretty impatient, want to know where you were, so we came out to find you. Heard some screaming and shouting, heard Sirius's voice and blasted him. So that's what we've been up to. What in Iolo's name have you been doing? [00:42:56] Speaker C: Well, honestly, I would love to recount and regale you with all of our exploits of tonight, but really, what I want more than anything is just to do the thing that I'm trying to do. Because if that happens, if I am able to do it, if we can pull it off, then we'll all be on the ship sailing away all happy. And I need that. I need this win today. And I will explain why over maybe some fruit and water later on the boat, but I will tell you now, it has involved Razor gators, organized crime, crime, crime, and just an unfathomable amount of lying. [00:44:01] Speaker B: Ticket has gone pale as a sheet at the revelation that Razor Gators are indeed real. And Sirsha says, I truly could not be in more of an agreement to that end. And she looks at Ticket and Core, there is someone you'll need to meet. And Sirsha takes a breath and kind of, like, tries to stand up a bit straighter. And she does. Because I believe in the previous episode, we talked about the signal, right? [00:44:37] Speaker A: Yep. [00:44:37] Speaker B: Yeah. So she does the whistle. [00:44:43] Speaker A: Yeah. After just like a little bit of awkwardly. [00:44:46] Speaker B: Wait. [00:44:47] Speaker A: And Core is like, who are we meeting? [00:44:49] Speaker C: No, just wait. [00:44:52] Speaker A: Okay, got it. And he picks up. He goes into scope and stance level two. Oh, I love. Leans against the wall and starts kind of like, looking around. And they wait around for a second and then coming from around the corner with her red blade cutlass. And now actually dressed up a little nicer. Beforehand, she was wearing some tattered clothes, but now I think this time she's got a black vest, some rolled up billowy shirts the piratey billowy shirts, but she's rolled them up sleeves. The red cutlass. Silene turns the corner, and at first, it's startled to see two more. But then seeing Zatar and Sirsha, she smiles to see that they're alive. [00:45:36] Speaker C: Okay, now that all of us are finally in one place, Sileen, we have a rather enticing offer to float by you. [00:45:49] Speaker A: Thank you for listening tonight's. Mafioso voice. It was a little lower. A what's? What watching here? [00:46:45] Speaker B: Did you just say a what? A watching here? [00:46:48] Speaker A: Shut up. Yes, I did.
